A Boy and His Blob

A Boy And His Blob (Wii) – HD Gameplay, E3 2009 – www.WiiMinuteRadio.com

A Boy and his Blob was started as a NES game all the way back at 1989.  Now 20 years later it has been remade and updated for the Wii.

This Nintendo Wii game is still played like the original for those of you who has played it before, but like mentioned before the game is updated with more content and easier accessibilities.

Pro:
  • The graphics looks nice, and you should really stop and aprciate all fo the work that has been done on it.
  • A lot of levels to play
  • The boss fights are very unique
  • 15 forms your blob can change into!
Con:
  • The controls might sometimes cause problems, especially when you’re at places where you need perfect control.
  • Getting killed in 1-hit makes the game more challenging, isn’t really good for me.

A Boy and his Blob Story

Story

In a world far, far, far away in a galaxy where blobs are your friends comes an evil emperor that wants to conquer the planet (Blobolonia).  He captured all of the blobs except for one, and as a desperate move the blob flees to another planet, which so happens to be our Earth.

There, on Earth, he meets a boy who shall be referred to as “boy”.  Together they will try to overthrow the emperor.  They first have to travel back to Blobolonia, and from there they begin their adventure.  The Emperor isn’t just going to sit there though; he summons his minions to stop the boy and the blob.  Good luck!

A Boy and his Blob Gameplay

Gameplay

The gameplay for this Nintendo Wii game is very simple.  You simply have to go from the start to the end.  You have to cross through obstacles, but don’t worry it’s easy at first.  As you go further into the game it gets harder and harder.

The boy will die instantly if he touches a monster or if he drops from a huge height.  So that’s where the blob comes in.  When fed one of the 15 magical beans the blob will become a different shape.  Which will help you get over obstacles, things like a cannon, a space ship, a ladder, etc

Now on a unrelated matter the game is very… cute.  You can see this as you play the game and you as the boy can play with your blob.  You can hug him, which is very cute, or when you’re separated you can call the blob, it’s a very heartwarming game, that makes you think what have you done for your pet?

Conclusion

With 80 (40 standard and 40 secret) stages of heartwarming hugs and death you won’t be bored of this game for a long time.

You’ll see how creative the game is as you have to change your blob to different forms to help you solve each obstacles and you’ll truly appreciate every ounce of work the creators of this Nintendo Wii game has put into the game from the stages, the background, the “hug” button, and everything else.
