Metal Slug Anthology is a scrolling shooter that contains 7 Metal Slug games throughout the decade.

This multiplayer Wii game includes Metal Slug 1-6 and X.  6 could only be founded at arcades, but not anymore, now it’s part of a console.

The reason this game is a multiplayer Wii game is, because there are 2-player Co-Op in every single one of these 7 games.

Not only that, but you and your friends can adjust the difficulty, the amount of lives you get, the amount of continues, and some other nifty features, such as saving in mid-game.

Pro:
  • 7 Metal Slug games all in one free, no coin required console
  • The game is action packed, and it’s a challenge to fight through the game even if you have unlimited continues on.
  • You can save anywhere and continue later
  • Play with multiple controls, Gamecube, Only Wiimote, Only Nunchuck, etc
Con:
  • Shaking the Wiimote to throw grenades isn’t the best idea ever.

Metal Slug Anthology Gameplay

Controls

This multiplayer Wii game is very simplistic.  I’ll be using the Wiimote.  You move with the D-pad.  Shoot with 1 and jump with 2.  Shake the Wiimote to throw a

grenade.  Be careful, because you only have a number of those.

Gameplay

Metal Slug is known to be extremely action-packed, fun, and frantic.  This is true about all 7 games in this package.  You run around in each stage with a pistol.  You can kill things by shooting them, this includes destructible buildings.

Sometimes you’ll run into tied up prisoners.  Shoot them to free them.  Then stand next to them and they’ll give you items or even weapons they could have used to free themselves!  A fair warning to you though: each weapon you pick up only has a certain amount of ammo.  Once you used them all you throw the gun away.

After jumping, ducking, and shooting your way to the end of the mission you’ll encounter a boss fight, which usually includes some gigantic machines.

Metal Slug Anthology Multiplayer

This multiplayer shooting game doesn’t have Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection or anything online related.  What it does have though is the ability to play 7 games with

Two people = Double the power, but it also means sharing time...

multiplayer with one of your friends.  The action is frantic and it can be as easy or hard as you want it to be.

2-Player Co-Op

To do this you just need to have 2 controllers (a Gamecube controller would be fine too), and then just go into one of the 7 games.  Get in the game (character selection), and let them press Start to get in.  That’s all you have to do!

Conclusion

Metal Slug Anthology is a fun multiplayer shooting game.  In fact just one of the Metal Slug games would have been plenty of fun, but not only do you get 7 games you also get some added features.

With unlimited continues you can practically play through the whole game as you wish.  If you want to beef up the challenge then get rid of the unlimited life and make it limited.  Battling through this game with your life on the line is exhilarating.  That and getting a friend to take a hit for you is also very fun to watch. :P

if you’re interested, you should buy this game, but you can rent it first at Gamefly starting as low as $8.95 or Try For Free!

Interesting stuff. I’ve played that before and it’s pretty good. What are your favorite games? I’ve been playing a lot of Halo Reach lately.

  3. Herby says:

Well, personally some of my favorite games are free roaming ones like Fallout 3, Grand Theft Auto, and any other games where you can attack random people :D . For the Wii specifically I like Super Mario Smash Brawls, Mario Kart Wii, and Dokapon Kingdom (to some extent anyways…).
